Obama Care DMV’s dumb ass Uncle?

In November I relocated back to Southern California for family reasons; for the past year and a half I had been living in Las Vegas.  I had bought a car two months prior to moving to Las Vegas in Southern California and a couple of months after getting to Vegas I went to DMV and registered my car in Nevada.   Now here is where it gets befuddled for a lack of a better G rated word; now that I was back in California and knowing I would need to reregister my car in California I went to the DMV website and made an appointment; this should be simple right?  The car came from California, they have the info in their system, punch in a couple of things on your PC and zip, zap, pay the fee, here’s your plates, have a nice day, come again soon!  YEAH RIGHT! Obama Care – Doing Nothing Wasnt An Option?

A few days ago an article titled Doing Nothing Wasn’t An Option  appeared in the New York Times written by Robert Reich the former Secretary of Labor for President Bill Clinton.  In his article Mr. Reich states in regards to Obama Care, “It’s not perfect”.   Well you certainly won’t get an argument from me Robert, it sure isn’t; it’s far from perfect, or American, democratic, or capitalistic for that matter.   His argument is that like Social Security and Medicare “What needs to be fixed can be fixed” Seriously?   I am not an economist and I am not an expert on Social Security and Medicare reform, however I know that for years the federal government has been going back and forth on the load social security has on the government and that the fund is going broke.  There are those that say the fund doesn’t pay retirees, working Americans pay retirees and that the fund is not and has never been needed, I don’t know which of these is actually true, what I do know is that whatever the issue is it needs to be fixed.  Oh and one other thing Robert, its really bad policy to fix something after the fact, how about for just once the government create something that is “Fixed” prior to shoving it down the American Publics throat… Just a thought. Obama Care Bad For Business?

We have all heard over the last couple of years how Obama Care is going to be great for everyone…. I am not so sure that those that are in business would agree.  Once the mandate for businesses takes effect every business who has employees that work over 30 hours will be required to provide that employee medical insurance.  This is the exact opposite of what capitalism is and how a free market is supposed to work.  In my opinion the only thing an employer owes an employee is financial compensation in exchange for their labor.  The amount of that compensation is agreed upon by both prior to the employee accepting the position.  Continue reading “Obama Care Bad For Business?”
